Propylene Glycol
This is a heating-cooling solution made from food-pharmaceutical grade USP propylene glycol.
Propylene glycol is an odorless, colorless, transparent, slightly volatile, viscous, neutral and hygroscopic liquid. The product mixes with water and lower alcohols, ketones and esters in any ratio. USP propylene glycol has similar effects to ethanol and acts as a bactericide. It inhibits the growth of microorganisms in solutions. Complies with USP and European pharmaceutical purity requirements. Propylene glycol is intended for cosmetics and hygiene, pharmaceuticals, food, tobacco, agro and other industries. Used as a heat transfer fluid, antifreeze, coolant and more.
Only distilled or demineralized water should be used for dilution.
Propylene glycol - excellent heat transfer fluid for heating, cooling and solar systems
The use of propylene glycol as a heat transfer fluid in heating/cooling systems helps protect settlements, people and animals from the consequences of disasters such as: earthquakes, fires, accidents or violations of heating system operation rules. Due to its ability to lower the freezing point of the solution and low corrosiveness of propylene glycol, it extends the service life of heating systems. When installing such complexes as country hotels, boarding houses and holiday homes, a closed heating system requires the use of a highly reliable, environmentally clean heat transfer fluid that can withstand high energy overloads and have these high indicators: heat capacity, thermal conductivity, anti-corrosion, durability, resistance to crystallization and good lubrication properties. Exactly such indicators have heat transfer fluids made on the basis of propylene glycol aqueous solution.
When diluted 1:1, freezing point is -37.5°C
For heating systems, dilution at a 1:2 ratio (1 L concentrate + 2 L water) is recommended. This ratio is optimal because circulation pumps can move the fluid more easily through the system, preventing fluid surges and protecting the pumps from damage. When diluting, it is advisable to use well or borehole water, not municipal water, as the latter contains chemicals that may cause scaling. At a 1:2 dilution ratio, the freezing point is approximately -16.1 to -18°C, volume fraction 30%.It is recommended to mix the fluids thoroughly in a separate container before adding them to the system, rather than mixing them directly in the system.
| Coolant %, volume fraction | Density at 20°C, g/cm³ | Freezing point °C |
