Propylene Glycol
This is a heating-cooling solution made from food-pharmaceutical grade USP propylene glycol.
Propylene glycol is an odorless, colorless, clear, low-volatility, thick, neutral, and hygroscopic liquid. The product mixes with water as well as lower alcohols, ketones, and esters in any ratio. USP propylene glycol has a similar effect to ethanol and acts as a bactericide. It inhibits the reproduction of microorganisms in solutions. Meets USP and European Pharmacopeia purity requirements. Propylene glycol is intended for use in cosmetics and hygiene, pharmaceuticals, food, tobacco, agriculture, and other industries. It is used as a heat transfer fluid, antifreeze, coolant, etc.
Only distilled or demineralized water should be used for dilution.
Propylene glycol – an excellent heat carrier for heating, cooling, and solar systems
Using propylene glycol as a heat carrier in heating/cooling systems helps protect settlements, people, and animals from disasters such as earthquakes, fires, accidents, or rule violations during heating system operation. Due to its ability to lower the freezing point and low corrosive aggressiveness, it extends the lifespan of the heating system. When installing closed heating systems in countryside hotels, guest houses, or resorts, a highly reliable, environmentally friendly heat carrier is required—one that can withstand high energy loads and has excellent characteristics in heat capacity, thermal conductivity, anti-corrosion, durability, crystallization resistance, and lubrication. These characteristics are provided by propylene glycol-based heat transfer fluids.
When diluted 1:1, freezing point is -37.5°C
In heating systems, a 1:2 ratio (1 l concentrate and 2 l water) is recommended. This ratio is suitable because the circulation pumps can move the fluid more easily, preventing pressure and damage. It is recommended to use water from a well or borehole; water from city networks should be avoided due to chemicals that can cause scaling. At a 1:2 dilution, freezing point is approximately -16.1 to -18°C, volume part 30%. It is advised to mix the liquids in a separate container before adding to the system. Do not mix directly in the system.
